The mission of our School is to advance civil engineering learning, discovery, and engagement in fulfillment of the Land Grant promise and the evolving responsibility of a global university.
Learning. We offer 9 robust academic specialty areas to deliver knowledge and expertise across a wide spectrum.
Discovery. Faculty, student, and staff research reflects our strong ongoing commitment to create more resilient, sustainable, and holistic solutions for an ever-changing world.
Engagement. Civil engineering touches every aspect of society and we have an obligation to ensure our programs remain responsive to societal needs. We work closely with, and involve, our local, state and national constituents, the professional community and our large base of alumni (over 11,500) and friends.
In fall 2015, our School includes 417 undergraduate and 418 graduate students, 63 faculty members and 53 staff members. I am also proud to report that for the second consecutive year, we are ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 5 civil engineering undergraduate programs in the country, coming in as the #4 public school for civil engineering and #5 school overall. Our graduate program continues to stand out, landing at #6 in the same publication.
We are justifiably proud of our past accomplishments; prouder still of the hard work, dedication and academic rigor it took to get us to this point. But we are striving to improve further. Our Strategic Plan clearly articulates our path forward. While our accomplishments, not to mention our graduates, have been exemplary, we will not merely reflect on the past but continue to make civil engineering history. We are committed to leading the civil engineering profession and to be the most sought-after civil engineering program in the country.
